HERE’S HOW WE PROVIDE HELP AND HOPE FOR OLDER ADULTS IN NEED

ROMANIA

Partnerships

We partner with Viorel and Florica Pasca in Western Romania, helping to raise awareness and funds to assist them in providing shelter, nutrition, medical care and God's love for over 300 elderly and frail who would otherwise be homeless. They have been helping older adults in Romania since 2006 and we’ve had the privilege of serving with them since 2011.

We also seek to identify and meet the physical and spiritual needs of at-risk elderly in other areas of Romania by serving alongside already existing ministries and in communities through connections with local churches.

TRIPS

Each year we have teams that travel to Romania to serve older adults in need. Every trip is unique in the types of help we provide based on what our partners identify as most pressing. Beyond meeting practical needs, our teams take time to visit, encourage and pray with our older friends.

The main focus of our winter team is our annual Christmas Stockings of Joy project. Throughout the year volunteers across the U.S. create hundreds of beautiful handmade stockings. Generous donors sponsor stockings with a suggested donation of $15. Then our team takes the empty stockings and the funds to Romania where they shop for practical, fun and delicious items to fill the stockings! Our team members then personally deliver Christmas Stockings of Joy to hundreds of elderly and frail. In 2017 our team packed and delivered 500 stockings!

If you are interested in traveling with a team to Romania or receiving a pattern to make Christmas Stockings of Joy, please use the CONTACT page to ask for more information or message us via the Elder Orphan Care facebook page.

NORTH CAROLINA

LOVE YOUR OLDER NEIGHBOR:

While we love traveling to Romania to serve our elderly friends, we also have identified many older adults in our area of North Carolina who face isolation and could use a friend; many have practical needs that we can help meet.

Elder Orphan Care has begun partnering with local senior-serving organizations, volunteers, and youth service camps to work together to help those in our community who are aging alone.

As we learn, we hope to pass along ideas and resources that can help like-minded individuals and organizations in other part of the U.S. and the world serve and love their older neighbors.
