NEWSLETTERS
![]() Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is Good!
R.C. Sproul has wisely said, "God doesn't want us to just feel gratitude, but for us to show it by giving thanks to God with our lives."
This edition of our newsletter is packed with good news made possible by you: our donors, volunteers, staff, ministry partners, and pray-ers, all who are people of Thanks-Living!
Welcome Janna Syester to our EOC Staff!
![]() We couldn't be more grateful that Janna Syester has joined our Elder Orphan Care staff as our Director of Community Programs! Janna is no stranger to EOC as she has been involved since the very beginning as board chair, donor, volunteer, encourager and prayer partner.
In her newly created role Janna will help expand the reach of our food and supplies assistance program as well as oversee our volunteers and supervise fieldwork students from local colleges. Janna is an occupational therapist who has worked in home health in the Concord, N.C., area for 14 years. Please join us in giving thanks to God for Janna!
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MISSIONS
![]() Kim Jackson, our director, describes the International Conference on Missions as a power plant and a family reunion! We left recharged by such an electric atmosphere and encouraged by spending time with old and new friends! We're so grateful for each person who dropped by our booth. And we thoroughly enjoyed watching the teenagers who tried to use the typewriter!
"I'll Never See the Ocean Again" When your older friends say "I'll never see the ocean again" staff members Tammy Blackburn and Janna Syester spring into action! Thanks to generous donors of funds and the loan of an accessible van, Rayma, Sylvia and Alma can no longer make that statement: they DID get to see the ocean, spend hours along the beach and the boardwalk and then enjoy a delicious seafood feast. You can be sure none of us will ever forget that glorious day! ![]()
ROMANIA KITCHEN PROGRESS UPDATE! ![]()
![]()
After several delays which were out of our control, the Kitchen Project in Romania is now progressing quickly! Our ministry partners, Mircea and Dana Badea, are thrilled with the prospect of a kitchen on the farm near one of their elder care homes where nutritious food can be prepared for the nearly 100 older adults in their care. May God abundantly reward the generous donors who are making this much-needed kitchen a reality!

ROLL 'N' STROLL! A DAY OF FUN AND FUNDRAISING FOR STOCKINGS OF JOY!
![]() Congratulations to the Family Fun Run and 5K winners at our Roll 'N' Stroll event!

Our Roll 'N' Stroll included vendors, a silent auction, and even ukulele fun! Thanks to all who helped, donated, and participated. You raised over $5000 of our $15,000 budget for Christmas Stockings of Joy!
IT'S CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS OF JOY SEASON!
![]()
Each year wonderful volunteers across the U.S. create hundreds of beautiful handmade Stockings of Joy and Tote Bags of Joy which are then filled with fun, delicious and practical items (including winter hats and scarves also handmade by our talented volunteers). Staff, volunteers and ministry partners will personally deliver the overflowing stockings and bags to our precious older friends both in Romania and in Cabarrus and Rowan Counties of North Carolina! Additionally, our 30 "Safe and Loved at Home" friends in NC are asked to provide us with Christmas Wish Lists which include "bigger ticket items." We are excited that our friends at One Life Church have taken on the challenge of purchasing a majority of those gifts!
Your gift of $15 will fill one Christmas Stocking of Joy/Tote Bag! We thank God for all those who have already donated, including Crossroads Church, whose support over the years is unmatched; One Life Church (who exceeded their goal of funding 50 stockings by donating funds to fill 65!) and Greenwood (IN) Christian School, which raised over $2000 which was then matched by Greenwood Christian Church! WOW! ![]()
The best gift you can give Elder Orphan Care is prayer! We absolutely know that we are carried along by your prayers. Would you please specifically pray for two people we love with all our hearts?
Our dear friend and ministry partner in Romania, Viorel Pasca, has been hospitalized for a month with covid. We rejoice that he is now at home, but he remains quite weak. Please join us in praying for his complete recovery and strength to return to the work he loves, caring for nearly 500 people who are elderly and frail!
Our dear friend and Elder Orphan Care Director of Development, Tammy Blackburn, will undergo surgery on Tuesday, November 30. She is having an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at three levels, C4-C7. We would appreciate your prayers for a successful surgery which will stop the pain she is enduring. Pray that Tammy will heal quickly, maintain good range of motion and the ability to do all the things she enjoys, including serving with EOC.
Thank you for the gift of your faithful, precious and powerful prayers!
We love sharing about Elder Orphan Care! And we'd love the opportunity to visit your church, small group, civic club or company! Recently members of our staff have had the privilege of speaking at One Life Church, BLVD Chapel, International Conference on Missions, Cabarrus Area Senior Resource Link, and Providence Presbyterian Church. We are delighted to reunite with our friends at the Romanian Baptist Church of Charlotte on November 28.
